IN AID OF

History of Southend Shakedown

The Southend Shakedown was originally the brainchild of the late Roger Glover aka Southend Roger, Ronald Miles and Mark Wilsmore from the Ace Café. The first event was marshalled by The Rayleigh Riders Club. Ronald Miles was also on the planning team and we are thrilled that he will be joining us on the day!

Ronald says “Back in 1998 was the year the event launched and we were really pleased that around 300 bikes turned up! Then it started to grow – at one point the event was so huge that we saw around 10,000 bikers on the seafront!”

Ronald continues: “The first charity that we supported was Havens Childrens Hospice. If it wasn’t for the support of the Ace Café’s Mark Wilsmore – there would never have been an event. I would like to wish The Southend Shakedown Resurrection Committee all the very best for their first event!”

WHAT’S ON AT THE DEVITT SOUTHEND SHAKEDOWN?

You can expect the obligatory arrival of hundreds of stunning motorbikes, plus a whole load of other great things to see and do, including trade stands, live music, and more! The action is taking place on the seafront, where you can find loads of great places to eat and drink if you work up an appetite!
